We’re excited to welcome Bergis Jules to our US team!

We’re happy to announce that Bergis Jules has joined the US team as Director of Equity Initiatives. The focus of his role will be working with community-based archives as the Co-Principal Investigator and Project Director of the Documenting the Now project, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, which seeks to develop tools and practices that support the ethical collection, use, and access to web and social media archival content. Bergis has also led the Architecting Sustainable Futures research on financial sustainability of community-based archives.

Documenting the Now was recognized as the 2018 Community/Capacity Award winner by the Digital Library Federation

Bergis is an archivist interested in developing solutions for building capacity and achieving sustainability in community-based cultural heritage organizations that focus on documenting the lives of marginalized people.

He is also passionate about incorporating ethics into how we collect and preserve digital content from the web and social media about people that are most vulnerable to harm in those spaces.
