Sharing our practice through service design

Over the last five years Historypin has built up a library of methods, techniques and good practice. We’ve delivered projects across five continents with thousands of cultural organisations. Thousands more have benefited from our platform.
From that wider community we keep being asked if we can share more about how we work. Yes we can!
So for the last six months we’ve quietly been working away at a prototype for an open-source kit for our community. We’re using Service Design to do this – which involves a deep focus on the end-user as well as rapid prototyping.

It’ll help you deliver eye-opening storytelling events. Gatherings that surface the personal stories of the people who make up every neighbourhood.

The underlying belief: We can bridge divided communities by increasing the sense of mutual understanding amongst people from a diverse mix of backgrounds.

How? Join the dots between each of our commonalities. Show that what we have in common is greater than our differences.

We wouldn’t be able to do this without the support we have from the Big Lottery Fund, the Institute for Museum and Library Services Heritage Lottery Fund and Knight Foundation. Here’s a big shout out to them – and stay tuned for more in coming issues of this newsletter. We’d also love for you to follow us @historypin
